SIMÓN NICHOLLS is a pianist, teacher and researcher of international experience, who has undertaken a special study of the music and thought of Alexander Skryabin. He has made many research visits to Moscow, discussing the music with Russian experts and examining original sources in the Skryabin Museum, the Taneyev Research Library of the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire and the Glinka Museum. His annotated translation with Michael Pushkin of Skryabin’s notebooks and other writings is now a standard reference work. He taught at London’s Royal College of Music, the Yehudi Menuhin School and Royal Birmingham Conservatoire of which he is an honorary Fellow.

A regular columnist for International Piano magazine with his feature Historical Perspectives, Mark is known for his encyclopaedic knowledge and his clear, insightful explanations of what makes different pianists’ artistry so unique.
YINZHI YUAN, an award-winning pianist recognized for excellence in international competitions, is regarded as one of the promising musicians of his generation. His honours include the 1st place at the International Medtner Competition in Heidelberg, the 3rd place at the International Magnus Piano Competition and the 5th place in the Kawai Asia Piano Competition. He was also the winner of Royal College of Music's most renowned Chappell Medal Piano Competition, and the Piano Prize and Donohoe Gold medal of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. MARINA FROLOVA-WALKER is Professor of Music History at the University of Cambridge and Fellow of Clare College, Cambridge, where she is Director of Studies in Music. She is also currently Professor of Music at Gresham College, London. One of the world’s leading authorities on Russian music, Professor Frolova-Walker has introduced international audiences not only to new repertories, but also to new ways of thinking about established works. Elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 2014, and the recipient of the RMA Dent Medal for her outstanding contribution to musicology, Professor Frolova-Walker is committed to sharing the insights gained from her research with a wider public, through talks, radio and TV appearances, and publications.
British pianist PETER DONOHOE (CBE) is acclaimed as one of the foremost pianists of our time, for his musicianship, stylistic versatility and commanding technique. He studied under Olivier Messiaen and other distinguished musicians. Donohue has given concerts all over the world including a ‘marathon’ recital of Scriabin’s complete piano sonatas at Milton Court (2017), as well as performing with many prestigious orchestras and at international music festivals. Donohoe is also in high demand as a jury member for international competitions such as the International Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in Moscow (2011 and 2015), Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels (2016), Georges Enescu Competition in Bucharest (2016), Hong Kong International Piano Competition (2016 and 2022), Harbin Competition (2017 and 2018), Artur Rubenstein Piano Master Competition (2017), to name just a few. Donohoe has made many recordings and he made his twenty-second appearance at the BBC Proms in 2012.
American-Argentine pianist ANA FAU is a dedicated teacher and a touring concert artist. She is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music (USA) and the legendary St Petersburg State Conservatory (Russia). Her students have won first prizes at competitions, and full scholarships at universities. Ana has performed at many music festivals and concert tours around Europe, USA and South America. As a pianist in residence at the WFMT (98.7 FM, Classical Radio Station of Chicago), she held her own recording solo and chamber music works by Spanish, Latin American and standard repertoire. As an educator Ana has taught at Merit School of Music of Chicago, and the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music in Milwaukee. She is the founder of the Rachmaninov Music Academy of Buenos Argentina, where she trains other teachers and pianists.

YANA Gall HUANG is an emotional wellness coach and creative facilitator based in Taipei, Taiwan, with a background in ecology and creative wellness. She is a co-founder and organizer of the Inner Spark Taipei community, which focuses on self-discovery and mental well-being through expressive arts and holistic practices. Sheng-chung Wu (伍盛中) is a Russian trained pianist based in Hong Kong. Upon graduating from the Mathematics faculty he travelled to Russia and entered the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatoire, where he spent 9 years of study, specialized in piano performance and obtained his doctorate. Wu is the first musician from Hong Kong to graduate from the institution. Since his student years Wu started giving concerts regularly in Russia, Poland, Korea, China, Hong Kong and Macau. Wu started his concert activities since his Moscow years. Since then he has performed in Russia, Poland, Korea, China, Thailand and Singapore. In 2015 Wu was commissioned by the Radio 4 Hong Kong to host a series of programme “Scriabin Unveiled” to commemorate the death of the composer.
Artemis H.R. Yen (顏華容) is a distinguished Taiwanese pianist, scholar, and author known for her acclaimed solo and chamber performances and unique program notes, earning her a special place in Taiwan's music scene after advanced studies in Russia, where she was the first Taiwanese to get a doctorate-equivalent degree from Moscow State Conservatory. She's a faculty member at Shih-Chien University since 2004, performs internationally (Russia, Europe, US), publishes on music, and founded Taiwan's Rachmaninoff Festival in 2013 celebrating the composer’s 140 jubilee. Yen released recordings of Mozart and Prokofiev sonatas (2013) and vinyl record “Seasons” (2016). Active in research projects on music-related issues, Yen is also an author of two books and a reviewer-contributor to Performing Arts Review and MUZIK.
STACY OLIVE JARVIS is a highly accomplished violinist based in Manchester and a PhD student in Music at the University of Birmingham, specialising in early 19th-century nocturnes. Her research focuses on European salon culture and Russian piano and vocal nocturnes. In 2024, she curated and published Collection of Nocturnes by First Quarter 19th-Century Composers serving as both author and music score editor. Stacy has presented her research at international conferences and published several peer-reviewed articles on Russian and European art music, intertextuality in 19th-century repertoire, and performance practices in Romantic piano music. She is also actively engaged in academic editing and curatorial projects that promote diverse and historically overlooked voices in music scholarship.
DANIELA ROMA graduated with highest honors in Piano from the Conservatorium “F. Torrefranca” in Italy and earned a Master’s Degree in piano performance with highest honors under Professor Aquiles Delle Vigne at the Hogeschool voor Muziek, Rotterdam. She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in DAMS ( Musicology) with highest honors cum laude from the University of Calabria,Italy, with a thesis on synesthesia in Scriabin and Kandinsky. Daniela has performed as soloist and chamber musician in prestigious halls across Europe and the USA. She has recorded works by Alfonso Rendano and Scriabin receiving critical acclaim internationally.
ANTONELLA BARBAROSSA graduated with honours in piano, organ, and composition at the Conservatorio “A. Casella” in L’Aquila, beginning early a career as organist, pianist, and conductor in Italy and abroad. She later earned a Philosophy degree with honours and taught piano at the Conservatory of Cosenza, becoming its Director until 2013. She conducted over two hundred concerts, performed major organ repertoire, and won the top prize at the International Organ Competition of Rome. As a composer, she has written works for piano, organ, chamber ensembles, orchestra, and band, several of which have been recorded. She also published essays and monographs on music and philosophy.

MICHAEL SMEER lives in the Netherlands, and has been writing for over 45 years. He’s not only the founder of My Haiku Pond Community and Academy in 2015 and 2016, a trained IT software engineer, but also a musician who plays guitar and other instruments. Michael started writing haiku in the 1990s and has published several books of lyrics and poetry. His pseudo name is Mīko.
Born in 1958, VELJKO GLODIĆ graduated from the Academy of Music in Zagreb, Croatia. He then trained at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, USA for his master’s degree before receiving his Ph.D. in 1988 from The Florida State University. Veljko has won many prestigious awards, served as member of jury at competitions and performed extensively at international festivals with programmes such as concert cycle Paths to Scriabin in Moscow. Veljko is also a highly recognised jazz pianist and apart from CD recordings, his piano performances have been broadcast on radio and TV in many countries. As a piano professor at the Zagreb University Academy (1993 - 2023), Veljko was engaged in intensive pedagogical and professional work. He has written several books including co-authoring the books Scriabin in the Cultural Spaces of the 20th Century (Moscow 2005) and Scriabin and Contemporaries (Moscow 2016). In 2019 Veljko founded the Croatian Society “Alexander Scriabin” with a group of Scriabin enthusiasts.
MARTÍN KAPTEIN is a Dutch pianist based in Germany. His focus lies on the late piano works of Franz Schubert and Alexander Scriabin, which he is preparing for CD recording. In 2022 he founded the Scriabin Club, now an international platform uniting musicians and scholars worldwide. A graduate of the Tilburg Conservatory (cum laude), he studied in the Russian piano tradition. Winner of the St. Cecilia Piano Competition in Porto (2015), his recent work in 2025 includes recitals and lectures in Germany, Italy, and the United States. His broad interests shape a holistic approach to music and teaching.
DMITRY RACHMANOV is the Chair of Keyboard at CSU Northridge. He has served on the faculties of Manhattan School of Music, Roosevelt University, and has appeared as a guest artist/lecturer at The Juilliard School, New England Conservatory, Beijing Central and Shanghai Conservatories. He has performed at Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, London's Barbican and South Bank Centres, in major halls of China, and was soloist with Ukraine National Symphony, National Orchestra of Porto and Vidin Sinfonietta, among others. He has recorded for Naxos, Parma, Master Musicians and Vista Vera labels. Rachmanov is a founding member and president of the Scriabin Society of America; he also serves as the president of the American Liszt Society’s Southern California Chapter. A co-director of the CSUN biennial ChamberFest and a recipient of numerous awards, Dr. Rachmanov was named the 2018-19 Research Fellow at CSUN’s Mike Curb College. He is the current President at the Scriabin Society of America.
Since its formation in 2011, aTonalHits has been dedicated to bringing contemporary and lesser known works of music to light. Its founding members are ILLYA FILSHTINSKIY (piano) and KATHA ZINN (violin), although aTonalHits has swollen its ranks with many collaborators of all art forms. They have been featured artists on the websites of the Juilliard School, Mannes the New School for Music, MySpace, and Avaloch Farm Residencies. Aside from performing, the group regularly focuses on film and music work on their YouTube channel. There, they have produced documentaries, performance films, and a series on historical violins. aTonalHits performs concerts and runs masterclasses around the globe, and they have premiered over 100 works.
LINDSEY MACCHIARELLA is a musicologist and Associate Professor of Music at the University of Texas at El Paso. She received her Ph.D in in historical musicology and certificate in early music studies from Florida State University. Her research interests are broad, though her primary area of research specialization is early modernism in fin-de-siècle France and Russia. She is lead editor of Rethinking Scriabin, forthcoming from Oxford University Press, and is currently working on a biograph, Toward the Flame: The Life of Aleksandr Skryabin. She has published articles on Skryabin, Erik Satie, and other topics in Music in Art, Keyboard Perspectives, and the Journal of the Scriabin Society of America. An active chamber musician and avid recital partner, RICK FERGUSON maintains an active life as teacher, composer, and arts advocate as co-founder and artistic director of The Musical Offering in Evanston, Illinois and as an Associate Lecturer at North Park University in Chicago.
,Mr Ferguson is a recording artist on the Southport and Albany Records abd is a strong advocate of STEAM-based education in the public schools. In his spare time, Mr Ferguson enjoys creating lecture-performance videos on his YouTube channel (Rick Ferguson Music).
JAMES KREILING is a pianist, writer, teacher and transcriber based in London. His solo career has focused on music of the early 20th century, in particular the piano works of Scriabin. His doctoral thesis, completed at the Guildhall School of Music, focused on the interaction of research, analysis, and performance practice in the interpretation of Scriabin’s late piano sonatas. He has published articles and book chapters relating to Scriabin performance and has recorded two discs encompassing the composer’s complete late piano music, which was released by Odradek in 2018 to great critical acclaim, including a five star review in BBC Music Magazine. He is currently writing a book on performing Scriabin’s piano music due for release in 2026 by Bloomsbury. Determined to bring Scriabin’s often misunderstood work to a wider public, he has experimented with presenting music in unusual formats and locations including concerts which mix classical piano with other performance arts - poetry, drama and dance, folk and jazz. James is also Assistant Artistic Director of the En Blanc et Noir piano festival in the French village of Lagrasse which presents a week of concerts each summer under the medieval covered market place.
ALESSANDRO BISTARELLI, an Italian pianist and musicologist, obtained the Second Level Academic Diploma in Piano, with a grade of one hundred and ten, cum laude and honorable mention, discussing a thesis on the last piano works of Skrjabin. He then perfected his skills with Eugenio De Rosa and Massimiliano Damerini. He has performed in concert in Italy and abroad. For many years Alessandro Bistarelli has been carrying out musicological research on the compositional thought and piano works of Skrjabin, of which he is a passionate interpreter. In 2015 he recorded a cycle of four broadcasts for Vatican Radio, Skrjabin or the delirium of the infinite. In 2016 he recorded a CD for the Sheva Collection dedicated to the cycle of the last compositions of the Russian musician. He recently published the book Le ultime produzioni pianistiche di Aleksandr Skrjabin poeta, filosofo e mistico for Zecchini Editore.
Ukrainian-American pianist, fine art photographer, and artist researcher Dr. ELINA AKSELRUD is the artistic director of her multidisciplinary team Intertwining Arts, as well as the lead artist of all its crossover projects. Her doctoral project was “Artistic Interpretation in a Crossdisciplinary Context – The Late Piano Œuvre of Alexander Scriabin” and in 2022 she has performed at the Scriabin Sonatas Marathons at several festivals dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the composer, as well as successfully presenting her project at various conferences in Europe. In 2024 Elina assisted her doctoral advisor Anna Gawboy in the production of a lighted performance of Alexander Scriabin’s “Prometheus”, Op.60 with Boston Symphony Orchestra, simultaneously conducting her own research on interdisciplinary artistic productions. Elina’s recent publication “The TIME, SPACE, and GESTURE in a crossdisciplinary context” has been issued by the Finnish Journal RUUKKU — Studies in Artistic Research. Her 2025 digital album of Alexander Scriabin Complete Piano Sonatas was released under the label Prospero Classical Records. In 2025 she received her degree of Dr. Artium with Excellence.
NZ award-winning haiku poet ZOE GRANT (currently aged 11) is an artist, soprano, flautist, and ballerina. She started writing poetry at the age of 6 and won the first prize at the International NZ Poetry Society Haiku Competition (school/junior category) at the age of 7. Together with her mother Sherry Grant (artistic director of this Scriabin festival), Zoe has performed many concerts, written/illustrated two poetry books (Bat Girl in 2020 and Being Katherine in 2023), edited poetry journals (Raining Rengay and Haiku Zoo Journal), guest edited Haiku Dialogue (2022 and 2024 Christmas) & Seashores (2025), hosted biannual Internatinoal Rengay Gathering (since 2021) and initiated Chalk on the Walk Haiku/Monoku projects (during Covid lockdown). Since 2023 Zoe started her own "Haiku Journey" interview series where she interviews haiku poets from around the world. Zoe and Sherry has received interviews in many countries and judged several international haiku competitions (both together and separately) including the latest International MHP (My Haiku Pond) 10th Anniversary Haikai Contest (2025) with the theme of "Music" for this Scriabin festival. Zoe read 250 short form poems during the 2022 International Scriabin 150 Festival over 3 days. It's the mother-daughter duo's wish to inspire at least 1 billion people with what they create as a family in the Next Golden Age (also the name of their podcast on Substack). Zoe is a member of the family wind quintet "Chocolate Fish Ensemble" where all her siblings and her mother perform together.
DAVID PROUD, a British philosopher, is currently in the final stages of a PhD at the Institute of Irish Studies, University of Liverpool. His research topic is James Joyce's 'Finnegans Wake', seen through the lens of the philosophy of Hegel. David has worked as a supply teacher in ICT (PGCE from the University of Huddersfield), though his academic background is primarily in philosophy, having studied it at the Open University, and at the Universities of Leeds and Sheffield. His interests focus upon bringing together philosophy and music as exhibiting similar modes of expression that reflect the harmonies and rhythms associated with deep, reflective thinking upon reality and existence.
IVOR PRADIĆ (1992) graduated cum laude with a degree in Music Theory from the Zagreb Music Academy, Croatia (graduation thesis title: Analysis of the Early Piano Sonatas of Alexander Nikolayevich Scriabin, 2017), for which he was awarded the Dean’s Award (2018). He also studied Piano and Composition for two years. Since 2020, he has been a Teaching Assistant at the Department of Music Pedagogy at the Zagreb Music Academy, where he is also working on his doctoral dissertation The Development of Style in the Piano Sonatas of Alexander Nikolayevich Scriabin (Doctoral Studies in Musicology).
SABRINA ZELIĆ graduated from the Zagreb Academy of Music. Thanks to her musicality, temperament, and a high degree of technical skill, she won a state scholarship to study at the prestigious Moscow University P. I. Tchaikovsky State Conservatory, where she attended a specialization program. At the Conservatory she also completed her postgraduate studies in the class of the great Russian pianist Nikolai Petrov, who described her as an excellent musician with a good sense of form and sound. In addition to her concert performances, she dedicates herself to pedagogical work at Zagreb University’s Academy of Music.
SOFIYA BOKAREVA is a Russian-American multidisciplinary artist, curator, and associate director at Art-Prime Gallery, known for projects linking art with history, human rights, and composers like Scriabin and Rachmaninoff; she works on large-scale sculptures with her grandfather Viktor Bokarev (deceased) and manages significant art initiatives, bridging artistic vision with societal commentary on oppression and memory. She studied ceramics at Gzhel State University and is deeply involved in preserving artistic legacies, particularly through the Scriabin Project: Synesthesia.
Born in Moldova into a family of distinguished musicians, JULIA GUBAJDULLINA commenced piano studies at four and performed with the Moldavian Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of twelve. She graduated summa cum laude from the Music Academy in Chișinău and completed her postgraduate studies at the Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow. She won first prizes at international music competitions in Romania (1993), Moldova (1997) and Italy (1999). Recipient of the UNESCO Special Prize for Outstanding Artistic Achievements, Julia has been performing with leading symphony orchestras in piano concertos by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Franck, Schumann, Ravel, Rachmaninoff, and Scriabin. Moving to Sarajevo in 2002, she taught at the Music Academy and was a permanent member of the SONEMUS ensemble, performing contemporary music. Since 2005, she lives in Croatia, where she works at the Zagreb Academy of Music as associate professor and head of the chamber music department. A passionate chamber musician, Julia has collaborated with many distinguished artists including a piano duo with Ruben Dalibaltayan with whom she founded the Makarska Summer School, where she has held masterclasses since 2006. She is a member of music competition juries and a guest professor at seminars in Croatia and abroad.

ARSEN DALIBALTAYAN was born into a family of musicians and began learning piano at the age of five. His mentors include Ruben Dalibaltayan and Pavel Gililov. Currently he is studying at the Zagreb Academy of Music with Simon Trpčeski and is a scholarship holder of the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein. He has won numerous first prizes at international competitions. In 2024, he received Third Prize at the Scriabin International Piano Competition, and in 2025 First Prize at the Isidor Bajić Piano Memorial Competition. He has also been awarded the Chancellor’s and Dean’s Awards of the University of Zagreb. He made his orchestral debut at the age of nine and has since performed in Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, the Czech Republic, Russia, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Sweden, and Singapore.

BOŽO KOVAČEVIĆ (1955., Pakrac) Bachelor in Philosophy and Sociology from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb.
In 1989, together with Slavko Goldstein, Vlado Gotovac and Franjo Zenko, he founded the HSLS (Croatian Social Liberal Party) and was elected Vice President; from 1992 to 1995 he was the party’s general secretary. From 1992 to 2000 he was a member of the Croatian Parliament (Hrvatski sabor) and from 1996 to 1997 he was representative of the Croatian Parliament in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. In 1998 he co-founded LS (Liberal Party) and was elected Spokesman and Vice President. From 1997 to 1998 he was executive director at Croatin Helsinki Committee; from 2000 to 2003 he was a minister for enviromental protection and spacial planing and a member of Cabinet of ministers. From 2003 to 2008 he was the Ambassador of Croatia in Russian Federation. From 2008 to 2009 he was a manager at the International Secondary School The XXI Century Integration; from 2010 to 2019 he was lecturer in International relations from WWII to global order; IR theories, at the University College for International Relations and Diplomacy Dag Hammarskjöld, Zagreb. From 2015 to 2018 he was a columnist at Telegram (weekly magazine).
Since 2017 he has been a lecturer at Pučko otvoreno učilište (Popular Open University), Zagreb, since 2018 a columnist at internet portal ideje.hr, and since 2019 a columnist at internet portal autograf.hr. He is the author of ca. 60 scientific papers and three books.
Born in 1982, ALEXEY CHERNOV is a Russian pianist and composer, graduated from Moscow conservatory in 2008 and from the Royal College of Music (London) in 2011. Chernov has been a prize-winner at over 30 international competitions and taken over 10 first prizes. Among others he became a prize-winner of the Cleveland piano competition and the XIV International Tchaikovsky competition. Chernov has a tremendously diverse and varied repertoire and has produced numerous recordings. He regularly performs in Russia and abroad and has appeared at numerous festivals, collaborating with many famous conductors. As a composer he created numerous pieces for piano as well as for chamber ensembles and orchestra. In 2022, Mr. Chernov has implemented a concert project where he performs the complete piano works of Alexander Scriabin. He was a special guest at the 2022 online International Scriabin 150 Festival.
Croatian-born pianist, composer and teacher BRUNO VLAHEK's "fantastic virtuosity" and "depth of musical thought that bewitches the audience" brought him to perform in Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, Russia and Middle East. First prize winner of the Scriabin Competition in Paris in 2010 and many other international piano competitions, he was also awarded the Swiss „Prix Paderewski“, „Pnina Salzman Prize“ in Israel, „Young Musician of the Year“ title in Croatia and holds a Honorary diploma by Her Majesty Queen of Spain. His performances were broadcast on BBC 3, France Musique, Dutch NPO Radio 4, Spanish RTVE and Catalunya Ràdio, Australian ABC Radio or Radio Suisse Romande. He performs to great success as D&B Piano Duo with his wife Dubravka Vukalovic. His recent all-Scarlatti CD for Naxos was compared by Belgian „Crescendo Magazine“ to those of Christian Zacharias and Vladimir Horowitz. Bruno's compositions have been performed on five continents.
JEZRAEL LUCERO is a producer, arranger, pianist, bassist from Cebu city, Philippines, now based in Hong Kong. He was born premature and blind but started his music training at an early age and is a tremendous jazz pianist.

Dr. JEFF YUNEK is an Associate Professor of Music Theory at Kennesaw State University and former President of the South Central Society for Music Theory. He has publications on the music of Alexander Scriabin in book chapters, Music Theory Online, and Music Analysis, which are informed by his study of Scriabin’s manuscripts and compositional notebooks at the Glinka Museum archives in Moscow. He has also presented on the mashups of DJ Earworm at regional, national, and international conferences with related publications in Music Theory Spectrum and the Journal of the Society for American Music.
